History

The history of Palazzo Ruspoli is intertwined with the most splendid eras of Florence. As we admire it today, the palace dates back to the end of the nineteenth century, when the city became the capital of Italy, but its oldest roots sink into the heart of the Renaissance. Right here once stood the rectory of the Baptistery of San Giovanni, a memory brought to life by the splendid late medieval tabernacle that adorns the façade, recently restored.

The stones, the proportions, the architectural details do not merely narrate the past, but make it part of the daily experience, in a constant dialogue between history and present.

Here, history is not observed: it is lived.
